This introductory demonstration will show you the fundamental workflow of the COMSOL Multiphysics® modeling environment. We will cover all of the key modeling steps, including geometry creation, setting up physics, meshing, solving, and postprocessing.

We will discuss the range of material models (linear and nonlinear) you can choose from; loading and support conditions; and linking between solids, shells, plates, and beams.
Learn to use gradient-based and derivative-free optimization techniques to define and solve problems in shape, parameter, and topology optimization. The techniques shown are applicable for almost all types of models.

Frank de Pont has been with COMSOL since 2005 and currently works as technical manager for the Benelux office. Before joining COMSOL, he worked as a structural analysis consultant. He received his MSc degree in mechanical engineering from Twente University, Enschede.

Sander Bezuijen is an applications engineer at COMSOL, where he specializes in fluid dynamics. Before joining COMSOL in 2017, he studied mechanical engineering at Delft University of Technology.
