matlab function input limitation

Is there any way to limit the input of matlab function?

Now I'm using matlab function with 3 inputs function(length1, length2, rotation_angle) to get physical properties of each node. It is used iteratively for optimization,

For physical reason, I need to restrict the input value like length1+length2 < 1

Is there any way to restrict the input while using matlab function?
