PML dependence on the width of the calculation window?

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hi,

I am preforming 2D mode analysis simulation of a rectangular waveguide. A PML layer is placed at the sides of the calculation window.

My question is will the imaginary part of the effective refractive index of the mode be independent of the total width of the calculation window?

Using PEC only does not give this imaginary part while using PML one obtains the imaginary solution of the effective refractive index. What is this dependent on?

I do obtain that it does changes with the width of the calculation window, but i would prefer it to be independent. Could there be something wrong with my definitions?

Thanks for any input.
