Laminar or Turbulent Flow

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hi all,

I am modelling flow through an inlet of a HX as I want to analyse the pressure drop. I am quite sure that the flow will be laminar due to the low mass flow rate of 200 kg/hr, however the solution does not solve when I use the laminar flow module. It only solves when I use the turbulent flow module.

When I use the velocity results from the turbulent flow module, the calculated Re is like 1600, so well within the laminar regime (to calculate Re I used Dh = Vol/wetted surf area as the 3D inlet is very complex). I don't understand why it wont solve for laminar flow module?

Thanks,

Alex

P.S - it solve with Turbulent SST, but not with algebraic y+
