Introduction to Modeling of Transport Phenomena with COMSOL Multiphysics®
Transport phenomena include the topics of fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and mass transfer. The subject of transport phenomena is essential in all engineering branches and in many scientific branches as well. Mathematical modeling of these phenomena involves defining and solving the equations for momentum, energy, and mass balances. For most applications, these equations are approximated and solved using numerical methods.
This webinar gives a short introduction to the subject of transport phenomena and to the numerical modeling of transport phenomena using the COMSOL Multiphysics® software. We demonstrate the use of numerical methods to model fluid flow, heat transfer, and mass transfer in three dimensions and time. The demonstrated examples include cooling in electronic devices as well as transport and reactions in porous media. We exemplify the modeling of turbulent and laminar flows, viscous momentum transport, diffusion, conduction, convection, advection, and radiation.
