Iron Sphere in a Magnetic Field

An iron sphere in a magnetic field is an excellent textbook example to demonstrate the effects of a magnetic field interacting with a permeable material. This tutorial series is designed as an introduction to numerically modeling electromagnetic effects with COMSOL. This series investigates four different background magnetic field regimes consisting of a static background magnetic field and three time-varying fields of 60 Hz, 20 kHz and 13.56 MHz. Each of these regimes has unique behavior, underlying assumptions and utilize different modeling techniques. All these models use the introduction model as a starting point and can be completed in any order.
