Piezoelectric micropumps are frequently used in medical applications because of their ability to precisely control the metering of very small volumes of fluids or gases. This example shows how to simulate a simple, non-resonant micropump, suitable for low flow rate applications. The model demonstrates the combination of piezoelectric materials with a fluid-structure interaction, and also illustrates the use of a simple velocity-dependent formula to account for the presence of valves on the inlet and outlet boundaries.
