Toggling heat transfer via conduction between two contacting bodies

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hi,

I need to observe the conductive heat transfer between two contacting bodies for some duration, then to stop the heat transfer using an insulative boundary for some duration, then restart the heat transfer.

The goal is to simulate for example, body 1 and body 2 contacting, then separating, then contacting again.

The temperature of body 1 would be 100C and body 2 would be 20C.

I'm currently using the continuity to define the initial contact, but I'm strugglling to find a way to toggle this feature on and off to demonstrate the contact and separation.

I attached my mph file. As well a picture describing what I'm trying to do overall.

Is what I'm trying to achive even possible in COMSOL 4.4?

Thank you!
