Solid State Diffusion

I am trying to model diffusion of solids in a layered sample. The sample is made up of a layer each of copper, solder, gold, nickle, and Bismuth Telluride.
What I am trying to do is this: I want to predict the solid diffusion that takes place between the various interfaces.
Which physics module would be best to model solid-state diffusion? We currently have the Chemical Species Transport physics module. Is this module capable of solving for non-steady-state diffusion in solids, in both directions across a boundary? We were looking at the equations used in this module (especially under Fick's Law) and were confused because those equations didn't match up with other literature that we found.
In Comsol, how do I solve for user defined equations in a model? If I do not have the ideal module, how can I manually define equations for Comsol to solve?

Hi,
I can't tell whether COMSOL offers a suitable application module for your problem. But you can definitely apply your own equations. That's one of the particular strengths of the software. And you can save a lot of money if you don't need to buy the modules then ;-).
How to do that is in the documentation and you can attend a user course.
